Accepting that Port Aransas
and Corpus Christi have many interesting and informative
activities, there is one that beckoned to us to try. Camping
right on the beach We
pulled out of the comfort and security of our made-to-order well
secured trailer park and directly onto the beach. There is a six
dollar beach fee and the park rangers are on patrol constantly. There is something inviting about opening the front door and
stepping out onto the beach with the sea gulls sitting and
squawking in our front yard, or walking along the jetty looking
for shells. As the evening progressed, the day trippers departed,
the kids running along the beach disappeared and a natural quiet
occurred. We walked the beach alone in the dark, our trailer
aglow in the distance. By morning I was up to catch the sunrise
before pulling out for yet another adventure in southern Texas. I
stood at the end of the trailer watching the sun come up. Slowly,
as the light increased I watched the shrimp boats go out along
the jetty and thought about the peace and tranquility surrounding
a life on the beach. It would be a good life just to stay and
take up residence in this place but there were other adventures
and other places still to see, so with some regret, we left the
beach heading for Brownsville TX.
