As we
wandered out of Yiayia's, we were confronted by yet another sign
proclaiming "Tyropita" which is a kind of dessert.
Having promised myself once again to watch my waist line, I was
determined to pass on by.
Carol Demetrion and Irene Zigoris were not
going to let me get by without sampling the delicious pastries
they were creating. A friendly "Hi", and the
conversation was on as they systematically made the scrumptious
little triangles filled with cheese. These two were having quite
a lot of fun with many others from the background joining in.
There was no way we could leave without tasting their wares. Of
course this wasn't the end of the pastry list available. Along
one wall was a large counter with all sorts of items to delight
the sweet tooth. In addition to the pastries there was more
traditional food.
Everywhere one looked was something to tempt
the pallet or tickle the tummy. We walked from booth to booth,
and soon found ourselves in a back hallway leading to a large
open room. I could tell that something different was here, as the
festive atmosphere which had been present during all of our
experiences so far, faded away to the rear and we entered an
almost library atmosphere. The center of the room was covered
with large glass display cases, filled with the most exquisite
and amazing things imaginable.
